Amman

Amman is the capital of Jordan. We flew here on Emerites airlines via Dubai. Only about an hour and a half flight. This country is dry, dry, dry ....and seems to have rubbish (mainly plastic bags, empty cans, bottles) almost everywhere, especially along the roads and highways. The locals don't even seem to notice it.
We met our palistinian guide here in Amman. She was fantastic at all times. Extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions on any subject.
The people were all very friendly and welcoming, and the food throughout this whole trip was scrumptious (if you like spicey).

2 These a fairly typical buildings - all pretty much white stone or concrete - many of them with an "unfinished" top floor. The custom is to add another floor when the son marries and the new family lives on the new floor.

9 Although Islam is the vastly dominant religion in this part of the world, Jordan (and the capital Amman) is a multi religious community including various Christian groups. This is a small Catholic church we visited in Amman.

24 The Amman Citadel is a historical site at the center of downtown Amman, Jordan. Known in Arabic as Jabal al-Qal'a, (جبل القلعة), the L-shaped hill is one of the seven jabals that originally made up Amman. Evidence of occupation since the pottery Neolithic period[1] has been found. It was inhabited by different peoples and cultures until the time of the Umayyads, after which came a period of decline and for much of the time until 1878 the former city became an abandoned pile of ruins only sporadically used by Bedouin and seasonal farmers.[2][3][4] Despite this gap, the Citadel of Amman is considered to be among the world's oldest continuously inhabited places.[5] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amman_Citadel

60 This was the restaurant where we had our last meal in Jordan before leaving for the return to Dubai. The food was an absolute feast - huge platters of meats and vegetables and fruits. This couple are our close friends from our local parish. This is the genuine 'finger food' - check out the following photos of various dishes.
